MEN'S GOLF TEAM TO COMPETE THIS WEEKEND AT MOREHEAD STATE
RICHMOND, Ky. - The Eastern Kentucky University men's golf team will travel to Morehead to compete this weekend in the Morehead State Intercollegiate Tournament at the Eagle Trace Golf Course.
This will be the Colonels' last regular season tournament before they travel to Nashville, TN, April 18-21, for the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament to decide the 1999 league champion.
"There should be a good field of competition at the MSU tournament. We are just hoping to play well enough that our confidence is up for the OVC tournament next week," said EKU men's golf coach Pat Stephens.
EKU has had back-to-back disappointing finishes, placing ninth at the Johnny Owens Invitational at Kentucky and then 16th last weekend at the Marshall University Invitational.
"Our guys are still trying to find the right chemistry," said Stephens.
This will be the second straight year Eastern has competed at the Morehead State tourney, finishing fifth out of 12 teams last season.
Senior Mason Guy led the Colonels last week at Marshall with his nine-over-par score for three rounds of 225, good enough for a tie for 24th place. Rounding out Eastern players in the tourney were James Milam, 229; Andy Games, 230; Eric Willenbrink, 232; and Josh Lee, 239.
