MEN'S GOLF TEAM CLOSES FALL SEASON WITH 10TH PLACE FINISH

RICHMOND, Ky. - The Eastern Kentucky University men's golf team closed its 1998 fall season recently with a 10th place finish among 15 teams entered in the Anchor Bank Intercollegiate Golf Tournament, hosted by Francis Marion University in Florence, SC.

The Colonels closed the 54-hole tournament with a team score of 892, 28-over-par for the three-round event won by Jacksonville State University, who shot an outstanding four-under-par as a team, 860.

Junior Eric Willenbrink (72-72-73, 217) and senior Andy Games (71-78-71, 220) paced the Colonels' contingent with seventh and 16th place finishes, respectively.

"I wasn't too disappointed with our guys. This was a really good course, and some of our players had not had the experience of playing on the road," said EKU head men's golf coach Pat Stephens.

Rounding out Eastern's individual scores at the Anchor Bank tourney were James Milam, 226; Chad Creech, 232; and :Mason Guy, 236.

Eastern's men's golf team opens its 1999 spring schedule, Mar. 4-7, at the Fripp Island (SC) Intercollegiate Tournament.
